Just A Few Things...

First of all, I'd like to demonstrate half lazy fuck status once again. Today while flipping through my RSS feed on Flock, I noticed a few interesting things from the New York Times. Some of this you all probably know about, and I vaguely knew about. So here goes.
Earlier this week, as I'm sure you've heard/read/seen/etc., there was a shooting in multiple towns in Alabama on account of Michael McLendon, a 28 year old man who also killed himself. This left Alabama with ten dead citizens and 6 hurt.
Yesterday (Thursday), Heribert Rech, a teen in Germany killed himself after shooting 12 students at his former school, then killing himself and three others 25 miles away.
The question we never fail to ask in these situations is "Why?" What was the motive? Heribert gave warning in a chat room, but was not taken seriously. McLendon didn't say a word to anyone about it. I have always said if you want to keep a secret, don't tell anyone.
Anyway, NYT says "[Rech] had apparently signaled his plans on an Internet chat room hours before embarking on the murderous spree... as a portrait of a troubled and depressed youth began to emerge." This brings me to my next link, and it's much more hopeful.
A few years ago, I found an online community called To Write Love On Her Arms. TWLOHA is a non profit organization that "shines a light on the issues of depression, addiction, self injury, and suicide." The story of TWLOHA (Scroll down) sprouts from the story of a girl in Florida named Renee in 2006.

I think all of this deserves it's own blog, so I'm not putting up comics and whatnot today.
If you or someone you know is talking about suicide call toll free 1 800 SUICIDE.
If you or a friend, family member, etc has problems with addiction, cutting, or just need someone to talk to, call toll free 1 800 DONT CUT or 1 800 TALK.

Love is the movement.
Stop the bleeding.
Rescue is possible.
Hope is real.
You are not alone.
You are loved.
